At Vanilla Electronics, we wanted 2020 to be the year that we accelerate in both our growth and global reach. After completing a significant investment deal in July, we scheduled in a meeting with Liz Truss MP, Secretary of State for International Trade. Joining Liz was Councillor Sam Chapman-Allen, Leader or Breckland District Council and Linn Clabburn, Programme Director of Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor.
After introductions had been made, Dan explained how Vanilla works as a business, helping manufacturers of all sizes make improvements in their supply chain. We particularly focussed on our work with a local customer, by helping them scale-up their new Covid distancing product – from a brand new concept, to 40k products built within 6 weeks.
The industry is currently facing a rise in component lead times, so we also wanted to demonstrate how we are reshoring manufacturing back to the UK with localised buffer stocks and consignment inventory to reduce lead times for our customers and deliver our products and services as efficiently as possible.
To ensure a comprehensive overview of everything we do at Vanilla, we took Liz for a tour of our facilities to show how we are redesigning products for efficient and automated manufacturing processes, as well as our recent investments in new technology.
Liz was thoroughly impressed with Vanilla and our facilities, adding that it was “‘Fantastic to visit Vanilla Electronics in Thetford. A really exciting company providing supply chain solutions in electronic services. Vanilla is looking to expand with onshore manufacturing and feels the location on the Cambridge Norwich Tech Corridor is well placed to support this. With a global client list, plus an agility to respond to time-critical demands – as with their support for the increased production of covid19 ventilators – the team at Vanilla Electronics have much to offer and are a great asset to the South West Norfolk business community.’
Dan, CEO of Vanilla, would like to extend his thanks to everyone who attended the meeting and complied with the Government regulations. Adding “Many thanks to Liz Truss MP and Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen for spending some time to understand our growing supply chain business in Thetford. It is great to hear about the investment being put into our region and the growing number of international technology companies attracted to the Tech Corridor.”
